Education

The Grainger County School District, comprised of 6 schools and an adult high school, is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Knoxville, Tennessee.  The enrollment during 2006-2007 is 3,598 students in grades PK-12.  There are 4 elementary schools, 1 K-12 school, and 1 high school servicing  the communities of Bean Station, Rutledge, Blaine, and Washburn.  We have 96 pre-school students being served.

The goal of the Grainger County School District is to improve the academic achievement of all students by:

  • Implementing learning opportunities to meet the varied needs of all students.
  • Utilizing technology to implement district curriculum.
  • Piloting developmentally appropriate early childhood programs.
  • Improving the performance of all employees through research-based staff development
